In collaboration with the Office of the Commissioner for the Environment and the Pedagogical Institute
The Environmental Commissioner’s Office in collaboration with the Pedagogical Institute and Together Volunteer, have launched a new series of presentations and workshops into the academic institutions regarding the process of organic composting.
During September 2016 to May 2018, 200 visits have been completed in schools (Kindergartens, Primary and High schools) where approximately 34,800 students (170 students/school) and 3000 teachers (15 teachers/school) have been trained.
A composter was offered at each school, a sponsorship from Lordos United Plastics Ltd, which chose to support the Let’s do it Cyprus campaign, by offering all composters.
During the presentations, children and teachers learn about composting, its advantages, the materials that can be placed in the bin, what cannot be composted, and answer questions such as whether there is a risk to health from composting.
