In the year 2020, our organization won the BEYOND PLASTIC global award for its actions to reduce disposable plastics. The project funded by IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) aims to study the production of plastics in Cyprus in order to produce practical proposals for waste management and reduce pollution in the Mediterranean Sea.
Plastic Waste-Free Islands
The program is developed in full synergy and cooperation with the Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative – CSTI. The primary goal of the project is to reduce plastic leakage on two islands in the Mediterranean, Minorca and Cyprus. This will be achieved by improving the dissemination of information and knowledge on waste generation and by strengthening the adoption of measures to reduce plastic spills from the tourism, fisheries and waste management sectors. For more information, please visit the program page on IUCN website.
Plastic Free Beaches
In March 2023, our organization in collaboration with the NGO Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative, developed two “Plastic Free Beaches” encouraging and facilitating visitors by installing a smart drinking water tap, signs and recycling baskets in Larnaca and Limassol.
Both projects were implemented with the funding of the IUCN and the Fondation Didier et Martine Primat as well as the support of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism of Cyprus.
In 2018, our organization sent 3 young people under 30 to Ukraine to take part in this program in order to expand employment opportunities for young people from rural and disadvantaged urban areas. For more information, please visit the SALTO-YOUTH page.
The program “Communication for Cooperation – next chapter” was developed with the aim of empowering young employees through a set of key communication skills. The main goal of this project is to equip participants to become ambassadors of tolerant dialogue and to raise awareness of the importance of communication skills and tolerance in the light of a changing European society. In 2018 , Together Cyprus sent 2 young women under 30 in Slovakia in order to become empowered. For more information, please visit the SALTO-YOUTH page.
